Greg Gecas and his wife Barb have been operating Heston’s since 1989.  Greg is the grandson of Myrl and Peggy Heston, and spent all of his summers on Gunflint Lake, with the exception of one.  In 1979, he moved here full-time.   Barb arrived in the spring of 1986.

We have been fortunate to raise our family here in the woods.  Our son, Paul, and our daughter, Addie, are still involved in the business, in between school and travel stints. All three of our children agree that it was a fine thing to grow up on Gunflint Lake.

In addition to keeping the cabins maintained, constructing new buildings, and remodeling bathrooms and kitchens, Greg enjoys homebrewing, hunting, and photography.  He is happiest when he is outside, be it for work or for recreation.  He mans a swift peel in the bread oven, delivering pizzas before guests even know they are done.

Barb wears many of the inside hats.  She is often the voice on the phone, and is trying her hand at website development.  A longtime fiber enthusiast, she currently knits and spins, and is planning to bring weaving back into her life.
