Skating the mirror ice came about as the result of Gunflint Lake freezing overnight in December 2012 with no snow falling on it. The first day after freeze-over yielded incredible ice for skating.  The following day after this was taped, small frost flowers began to form on the surface.  This footage was shot with a GoPro Hero 3.
